Hello Everybody,

I wanted to know if anyone could offer me any tips on this annoying flat tire problem that I am having. In the past two weeks I have gotten about 10-11 flats on my rear tire. I bought a thicker tube already and even checked the inside of my rim and the inside of my tire to see if there was anything that could be poking at my tube and I have found nothing, zero, zilch!!! It's just frustrating to have to either patch my tire everyday or buy a new tube every second day. I have been riding almost every single day and I always wake up to a flat tire. Any tips or any good guys I can take it to have it checked out. I've taken my bike to a couple of bike shops and they always seem to mess up my bike when I take it in. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

So I had a very similar issue, went through a bunch of tubes as well. After thinking it might have been the rim, i cut a tube and made rim tape out of it (over the existing rim tape), but then still got a flat. It turned out that the wire in the bead of the tire actually started coming out and was the culprit. I discovered it out of pure dumb luck on a trail while repairing the flat. Of course this only applies to cheaper wire bead non-folding tires. I got a new kevlar bead tire and everything is better now. So what's my advice? Get some thick rim tape or double up on the rim tape and replace the tire with a kevlar bead tire, there very well may be something on that tire that is not visible anyhow (no matter how hard you look). If you still get a flat, it's gotta be the rim. Also make sure to get a tube of large enough diameter so that it doesn't have to stretch too much to expand to the tire's size. And take care with not pinching the tube when installing. Good luck!

Thanks! I really appreciate the tip. I was actually thinking on changing my rim tape. Thanks again.

Are these pinch flats? If so, you might be riding too low of pressure in your back tire.

What tire are you running? Maybe time for a change. I had flats on every tire including the nevgals. I run WTB weirwolf 2.3's no flats for the last two years, inflated to 40 lbs and down to 27 lbs. no pinches.
