I plan on going a strenuous ride on Sunday and it would be great if other advanced riders joined me.
**This ride is for STRONG INTERMEDIATE or ADVANCED mountain bikers** From the trailhead at the junction of Rt 2 (Angeles Crest Hwy) & Angeles Forest Hwy, we'll begin our ride with a 4.5 mile climb on a fire road (Josephine Rd) to where it splits to Josephine Peak and Strawberry Peak. The single track riding begins after the fork. The single track is exposed to serious heights, is rutted, and eroded in some sections. You might have to walk your bike through one section that is washed out. See pics here (http://www.meetup.com... The trail spits us out at Red Box. From there, we'll take Gabrielleno to the Switzer picnic area to end the ride. This last stretch is a wicked technical down hill where the full suspension crew gets to work their works. If you've got pads, bring'em. The down hills can get gnarly if you like going fast. Pedaling time is 9am, please arrive before 9am if you want to ride with the group. We won't leave anyone behind that starts with us, but the pace will be advanced. Bring lots of whatever you use to hydrate, and since you are all experienced I need not tell you what else you should bring (i.e. Helmets, spare tube, and whatever else keeps you happy on the trails) Self sufficiency is key. Here is a map of the route, it's an approximation because it's really hard to see where the trail is from the sat images, so take this with a grain of salt, but trust me, I've done this ride before and it's an easy trail to stay on. http://www.gmap-pedom... Inviting or bringing other strong MTBer is encouraged. Due to the altitude, long climbs, technical and dangerous terrain please be honest with yourself regarding your skill level. Please please please only strong intermediates and advanced riders in above average physical shape. Disclaimer: I'm going riding. I'm not a leader. I do not have emergency training. You assume complete responsibility for yourself. I do not assume responsibility for you. Consider this an invitation to join me on a ride, but you are completely responsible for your safety and do not hold me responsible if anything happens to you. If you'd like to join me, contact me via the meetup link and we can work out any details. Looking forward to a good hard ride. |
