| Over the last few weeks, I have been hearing from a few of you about riding The Sunset Ridge Trail or El Prieto or a few other trails effected by the Station Fire. Today while climbing Chaney Trail to the Cape of Good Hope, we spotted two freshly posted signs. The first was placed at the 'top' of Sunset Ridge Trail. The other was posted on Chaney Trail just as it goes from asphault to dirt. If there was any doubt, there shouldn't be anymore. Don't do it folks. The fines are hefty. Also you have to wonder, after all these months why are they reposting these signs? Even more confusing was what we found at the bottom of Mid-Merrills - no sign. . .
Based on the posts I am reading elsewhere and the tone of emails I recieve from volunteer groups that are blessed by the Forest Service to work on trails in the San Gabes, we still have a long time before our trails will re-open. I read El Prieto *may* open in Spring of 2011. <sigh> Blue Skies Chris Ashford ![]()
