Announcing a new Meetup for Southern California Mountain Bikers!
What: Chiquito Trail - Downhill w/Shuttle
When: Saturday, June 19, 2010 9:00 AM
Where:
Ortega Oaks Candy Store
34040 Ortega Hwy
Lake Elsinore, CA 92530
[masked]
This is an intermediate to advanced level mostly single track trail with 2100' of elevation loss and 750' of elevation gain over approximately 8 miles. If you have to ask, "Am I ready for this ride?" the answer is no. To compare this to other trails, GMR and Mt. Pinos are beginner rides compared to this trail.
Big Bikes are NOT recommended. We'll try to do this more than once on Saturday, but I will say that the last time we did this, we were pretty tired even after just one run down.
To participate in this ride, you need to be able to carry at least one other person and one other bike in your vehicle.
A Forest Adventure Pass is required to park. We'll be meeting in the parking area across from the Ortega Oaks Candy Store, and then driving vehicles up where the trail begins near the Blue Jay Campground area.
Full pads are recommended. Full face helmet optional.
Bring some food, charcoal, drinks etc. if you would like to BBQ afterward. Some of us are camping at the Upper San Juan Campground area Friday and Saturday night.
