Announcing a new Meetup for Southern California Mountain Bikers!
What: Hurkey Creek Camping and Riding
When: Saturday, May 29, 2010 10:00 AM
Where:
Hurkey Creek Park
56375 Highway 74
Mountain Center, CA 92561
[masked]
If you've never been to Hurkey Creek, I'll tell you it's worth the drive from LA. Situated near the top of the 74 Hwy between Hemet and Palm Springs, and right across from Lake Hemet at approx 4500' elevation, this area is absolutely beautiful this time of year.
On Saturday, we'll be riding a cross-country loop that starts and ends at the campground where we'll be camping Saturday night. Plan on starting the first loop at 10AM. We'll have lunch after the first loop, and then do another loop. Please allow a lot of flexibility on start times! This isn't a "show up and ride" kind of day. Rather, it's a whole day adventure if you're not camping, and an all weekend adventure for the rest of us.
Also, other MTB groups will be riding there so you should have no problem finding somebody to do the loop with.
You can read about the Hurkey Creek loop here:
