Hi Darra--Thks for your response! I totally get it re being wary of injuries in risky cross-training modes like mtb while training for your half. I did the Carlsbad 1/2 in. 1/10 and developed serious shin splints 1 month before race day (but great chiropractor restored me ). I hike as well but mtb is my focus now as for me, it combines best of hiking and cycling.. Best wishes on your 1/2--which are u doing?
Hi, Darra--I don't know if your info above is still accurate, but I am an advanced beginner mtn biker and live in sherman oaks, have same feelings you have re their being a lot of great trails nearby (eg dirt Mulholland network), but probably not great to ride alone. If you are still looking for riding pals, let me know... DeeDee
