Encinal Malibu Canyon Back bone trail
located just north of Mulholland highy Encinal Canyon split off near.
This trail has recently opened. Its a begginers trail, with mild climb, but continuouse uphill until you reach the fireroad on top. You even pass through a Pine ... Read moreforest! The return down is the pay off, many burmed turns, the trail is well maintained even after the rains. Fast guys will fly here. There are a couple of sweeping burms that you can nail full sidways.
begginners will enjoy, no technicals, roots, rock gardens, nor ruts. However there ares a couple of sharp 180's that you can fly off on the down hill.
The only issue that I saw was the trail has become overgrown with reeds at a couple of sections.
I will post of a meet up and give more infomation then.
this is a very fun trail for any level

Pt. Magu Camping / Riding
Pt. Magu State Park is right next to the ocean in Malibu (see http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=630). Trails in the area range from relatively easy fire road options to some really sweet technical single tracks. Being that the area is next ... Read more to the ocean, early morning rides are excellent with cool breezes flowing up the canyons. And of course, with the ocean within walking distance, a dip in the ocean after a ride is an absolute must do! Even if you're not riding, you can go for a hike or just hang out on the beach.

Camp sites are $25/night for up to 3 vehicles and 8 people and can be reserved online. I checked availability and found open spots during mid-July. My plan would be to drive up on a Saturday morning, go for a ride and then setup camp for a one-night stay.

Malibu Creek Park via San Juan Baptista Park
this is an advance beginner/ intermediat and some advance technical.
Single track from San Jaun baptista park which parallels Malibu Canyon over the hill, then to Malibu Lake. 1/4 mile (advanced) rocky technical single track to the Old & ... Read more#034;Mash" filming site. (advance climb and descent from Helo pad) then easy fire road to the lake then return back that same way. its about 13 miles total.

pasadena night ride
I've been riding the lower Sam Merrill trail in the evenings lately, it's a nice ride if anybody would be up for it, or I'd be up for evening rides anywhere in the area if anyone is doing any riding.

Fun day in Loma Linda - Hilda Crooks Park
Hilda Crooks has a little of everything. Smooth flowing singletrack race course type stuff, some roller coastery, sketchy downhill stuff, and even a bunch of jumps like at Chris Aragon's spot. Its about and hour ride out the 10 from ... Read moreSanta Monica but would make for a lot of fun riding for a group of 5-10 or even more. The trails there have names like "Return of the Jedi" I & II and "Jackrabbit" There are no trees here so you can easily see everything there is to do one you get up to the top of a trail. The only thing bad is that there are a few loose sandy spots but the day after a rain would be perfect.

We're thinking of camping for a few days at point Mogu, the week of june 7th. I live and work on the west-side, so for a few days I'll commute to work from the campground. Eating in ... Snow Summit. Show and $25 later your on a lift.
15 mi epic on E101, or 9 min. DH runs top to bottom!
