Feast your eyes on this - more downhill mountain biking than you can shake a stick at!
The Arroyo Secco District of the San Gabriel are home to some amazing mountain biking descents. The Mount Wilson Toll road descends some 4500 along epic fire road with numerous single track options along the way. If you do it right you won't pedal uphill at all. The descent from Red Box - some 3700' - is 90% single track with switch back after switch back - you won't get bored. Want something in-between? Either ride includes cross-country hammer pilot climbs, stream crossings and epic single-track. In short there, is something for everyone - beginner and expert alike.

Lets go yo-yo the mountain. We will provide transportation from the JPL parking lot to Red Box or Mt. Wilson Toll road, maps, and optional guides for your mountain biking adventure. Our pick up times will be: 7 AM, 9AM, 11AM, 1PM should demand warrant additional loops will be 3PM and 5PM. The first loop on your mountain biking adventure will cost $25, the second $10 and if you are able to make a 3rd or 4th $5 each. Keep in mind the trails will contain other mountain bikers, hikers and equestrians. The speed limit on the trails is 15 MPH - use common sense. The rangers are always out. You'll need a good set of lights should you make 4 trips.
The San Gabreilino Trail takes me about 3.5 hours to complete at a relaxed pace. I've seen cats do it in 2.5 hours though. Depending on which route your take, Mt. Wilson is about 2.5 hours. Again cats can do it in 1.5 hours. The Mount Wilson side is the more heavily used route.

If I were riding, I'd take the 7AM loop to Mt. Wilson, ride it to Mt. Lowe/Echo Mountain(contains liberal amounts of epic single track) then transition over to the Sunset Trail then to Millard Campground. From Millard headback to JPL via El Pieto single track.
My next loop would be the less crowded Gabrielino Trail with a stop along the way for lunch.
Time and energy permitting my last ride would be another Mount Wilson Toll Road ride all the way to Eaton Canyon!
But that is me.
Hungry? Lunch: 2 sandwiches (roast beef or ham), bag of chips and 2 (10oz) gatorades is available for advance purchase.
Sign up for your first loop. In your RSVP state which other loops you want and send the balance to [masked] via Amazon or Paypal. Or if the spots are filling up - just pay the $25 and I'll manually refund you the difference.
