Adventure Movie Screenings, BBQ and (mini) bon-fire!

This location is shown only to members

Overview:
Take a mid-week break from your normal world and come watch your favorite videos under the moonlight at SCOA HQ. We will be screening your favorite videos in our back yard via projector. We will provide the screen, the projector, the grill and a fire pit. You upload your favorite video to SCOA, bring a beach chair, some grillables, your favorite beverage and of course your appetite for food and adventure video.

Everyone from beginners, pros, "never done befores" and those of you who only show up for social events are all welcome. All that we ask is that you RSVP and that you bring something of your own to eat and drink.

Logistics/The Plan:
My Wednesday mountain bike ride ends at 7:15 and I won't get back until 7:45 - don't arrive too early. Be there around 8 PM. Come through the gate in the driveway - be mindful of the large video screen. Make yourself at home - outside.

The grill will be open immediately. Plan on being self-sustained for everything except for flame. We will have a large garbage can in the back for trash. There will be an ice chest available for your cold bevy - if you want to bring your own it is okay.

Videos - upload your favorite video to http://www.scoaoutdoo... (you will need to login to do that). SCOA membership is free. The subject matter of the video needs to pertain to outdoor adventure, gear or a place.

You can also, add your favorite YouTube video. The idea is to watch cool videos - it doesn't matter who made it. At first, let's limit the videos to 5 minutes or less so everyone's can be watched. We can loop it. Make sure the encoding was done well. Pixelated and grainy video on a computer screen is made 10x worse when projected. Good quality audio can really enhance a video too. If you have any questions drop me a line [masked].

To be courteous to our neighbors, around 11 we will be wrapping things up. If you took public transportation, I will be giving you a ride to the light-rail at this time.

What to bring?

  • Your favorite beverage.
  • Something for YOU to eat on the grill.
  • Your favorite beach chair. We have seats for 10 - after that you are on your own.
  • Remember to upload your favorite video here.

Directions:
The easiest way is to come up Lake Avenue from the 210. However the quickest way is via Madre exit from the 210 heading west, Windsor exit from 210 heading east, and Lincoln Ave from the 134 heading east. If all that is confusing just come up Lake Ave to Mariposa Ave. Make a left. SCOA HQ is at Mariposa and Santa Rosa.

While we know the date/time will not work for everyone, as we gauge interest, we can move it to the most effective place.

BTW - this place it totally accessible via light-rail and Metro bus. I am happy to give you a ride to the light rail after the event.
