GMR / Monroe Truck Trail Downhill Shuttle Day

GMR Staging Area 2 (map)

Selected By: A former member

Imagine this folks: 6 miles of super fun downhill action for just a few hundred feet of easy climbing. The way down is a mixture of fire road, double track and single track. There are no major obstacles, drop offs, etc. It's just pure FUN! Now consider doing that three more times in a day in just a few hours. It's totally possible!

Whether you have a hard tail, full suspension, all-mountain or downhill rig, you'll be fine. Any mountain bike will do.

Since we'll be doing our own shuttles up the mountain, you'll be expected to help out with transporting bikes / people or both up to the top.

Please, no carpools - we need the extra vehicles!

Pads are not necessary, but if you have them, bring them. Same for a full face helmet - nice to have, but not necessary.

If you have a radio, bring it. We're on channel 7/7.

Thanks for the reminder Eddie - I need to renew adventure pass! FYI: If you're going to buy one, you may as well get the 2nd vehicle pass at the same time for an extra five bucks. You can get Forest Adventure passes at places like Big 5, REI, Sport Chalet, etc. Call ahead to make sure they have them in stock.

I have an extra yearly Adventure pass if someone is interested in buying it for less than half price. It would be nice to get it sold while it still has value. I am not sure when I bought it but it should still have many months on it. I'll have to check.

Hunter, you're welcome to it. It did not have as many months left as I though, but it is valid until the end of August - almost 4 months. You can have it for $5, same as a day pass.

No worries Chris. I met you before the first run (my first name is Stan, Hunter is my last name). Michael and another guy and I were standing off to the side and before we knew it everyone was heading out. Michael ended up driving us up.

@Hunter -ah Stan we did meet but there is no way I could tell by your profile picture. Yes the bike is awesome but it doesn't help when trying to ID you out of 21 people.
Feedback is always cool. Please keep it coming. Rides like this are designed to be all inclusive. I know Mark 'chatted' with you off-line. If you have more questions or concerns he is a great guy to turn to. Alternatively you can give me a shout. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for giving us an opportunity to respond.

Hey Chris, I had totally forgotten about uploading them there. I didn't have a lot of time yesterday with it being mothers day and all but I got a short one of the upper part of the trail together right now it's located here: http://www.vholdr.com/video/glendora-mountain-trail

I will also upload it to the SCOA site tonight along with the others as I finish them up.

How could a GMR shuttle be anything but good? The shuttle worked out well and there was a good number of people. It would be nice if we all got behind a trailer type shuttle where we all chipped in to make it more efficient. Next time?

Great day, got 3 runs in, met a bunch of cool guys, I forgot their names already, but will see you again I hope

I had an awesome time! The group was much bigger than the RSVPs indicated definitely some strays - 20/21 people easy. But that is how we roll and Mark did an awesome job keeping things moving. I don't think I met Hunter and am sorry his experience was less than stellar. I drove the shuttle and got three runs in others got four - you can't do that on your own. The weather was fantastic too! Thanks for coming out everyone.
