It should be a nice weekend for riding with moderate temperatures (75F or so). Join me for what should be a great ride up to Simi Peak (highest peak in Simi Hills at 2403 ft) and enjoy the amazing views from the top and some fun and easy single track. It's a fair amount of climbing but so worth it.
The Plan:
We'll meet at the Chesebro trail head (free) parking lot at 9:00 AM and start the ride at 9:30 AM SHARP. If you're late, you'll have to catch up.
We'll head up Modelo Trail to the Palo Comado Fire Road. We'll take this up to China Flats, which we will loop around on a really fun non-technical single track.
This includes a detour up to Simi Peak where we will have a lunch break while taking in the views.
The very last section to the peak is a hike-a-bike for most as it is quite technical and steep. From there it is mostly downhill on the way back. Instead of taking the Palo Comado Fire Road all the way back we'll turn onto the Sheep Corral Single Track and take it over to Chesebro Canyon. From there we'll take Sulphur Springs Single Track and Cheeseboro Canyon Fire Road back to the cars.
Distance:
15.25 miles, 43% single track and 57% fire road.
Time Required:
I expect about 4-5 hours or so riding time.
Difficulty:
I would rate this an Intermediate ride, but doable for a well conditioned novice rider. This ride is not very technical for the most part, except for the last 1/4 mi segment to Simi Peak (hike-a-bike for most) and a couple of spots on the Sheep Corral and Sulphur Springs Single Tracks which would be hike-a-bike for novice riders. This ride is not suitable for most beginners, especially if you are not in great shape. There will be a fair amount of climbing on the first half of the ride, mostly fire road though. If you are unsure if this is a good ride for you, feel free to contact me (Stein).
Directions:
Take 101 North/West to Agoura Hills and get off at Chesebro Rd. Go North on Chesebro Rd. for about mile and turn right just before the houses. A little further up you'll get to the parking lot.

IMPORTANT:
Mountain biking is an inherently risky sport, especially for those who tend to take chances. You can get hurt. As event organizers we assume absolutely no responsibility for you or your equipment. We are simply mountain biking "buddies", nothing more. If you choose to participate you assume all risk involved. Also:
What, only 2 confirmed participants? Well, I guess you folks, just don't realize what you're missing out on. This is going to be a great ride. Robert, knows, he was with me last time, and he's back for more fun. Great to have you along. Here's a video clip of the last part of the ride: http://www.nrmbc.org/Movies/Weekly/2006-05-27CheeseboroFr...![]()
