La Tuna Canyon - Exploratory Ride...

So,

I've seen this ride and I know it is a popular one, however I have never done it. I can actually see people riding from my frontyard. If you have done it I'd love to have some one show me the ropes.

I have maps and have been studying the area by map & driving around the perimeter of the Verdugo Mountains.

NOTE: I am an Intermediate+ level rider who has been off the bike for 2-3 months now. I've done quick spins and 8 hour EPIC's. I've never been a fast climber, but more the like the tortise in the race. I'm slow up and fast-ish down. I just love to ride. I am not in top physical standings due to my time off and WILL be taking my sweet time to explore my new "frontyard". So if you are looking for a fast-paced ride this probably is not the one for you. If you are a beginner looking to take the next step this would be perfect. If you fall somewhere in between feel free to come and ENJOY this slow-paced Saturday morning ride.

Anyways, with that said...

I'm excited to ride this and am hoping to make this a weekly ride. I just moved to the Foothills and well my actual backyard is closed due to the Station Fire so this my new "stomping grounds", LOL.

Distance: Approx 8-12 Miles
Climbing: Approx 1,800+ Feet
Pedal Time: Approx 1h 30m+
Total Time: Approx 3h+ (breaks, set-up, Pictures, etc...)
Skill Level: Beginner+ (not newbie)

- No One will be left behind, come out and step it up if you'd like, I'll be taking my time -

Beginners keep in mind that 1,800 feet of climbing is alot. If you ever done Fullerton Loop that is 1,200 feet over a 12.5 mile course. I believe this is actually only 8 miles at it's shortest point with 1,800 feet of climbing. If you've ever done Lower Brown Mountain, that is about 1,400 feet over 8 miles.

We'll meet at 7:30 and will plan on rolling out at 7:45-7:50.

So,
Meet me at the metal gate at the beginning of the fire rode. I will be riding a Gold GT LTS-1000 and driving a Green Land Rover. Call me if you have any questions [masked]

Also, The address for the meetup is only a reference. When you exit the 210 freeway you will see cars parked at the gate. Call me if you have any questions.

Hope to see y'all out there.

Wow - It's crazy how just a few months off can get you so out of shape. This was a nice one. Gentle grind to the top and some technical single-track on the way down. Had a few breaks for flats tires and a few little spills. All and all a good ride. I love it!!!

This trail is a lot of fun. Great for training especially for begginers trying to get adjusted with dirt for the first time. all in all great ride.
