Mt Pinos (map)
Overview:
We are going back to Mt. Pinos. That is right October 2,3,4 we will be camping and riding Mt. Pinos. We will have the shuttle running, serving 7 miles of downhill trails, all day Saturday and all day Sunday. Bring your lights - we will do a few night runs as well! Last time members got 5-6 runs in per day that is 35-40 miles of downhill in one day!
SCOA would like to welcome Chris Aragon to the line up. A former pro-BMXer, Chris will be available for "course walks"/ride sessions and chat about the campfire. Indeed it is a chance to learn from an expert how to ride the trail like a pro! Chris will be available all weekend. We will need to schedule his time though. If you are interested in spending time with Chris, after RSVPing YES on this event please go Click Here to sign up. It is free and your RSVP will help us put together activities to best suit your needs.
The Plan:
************************
UPDATE: Come get your ride on! This weekend is going to be awesome. Check out the video we shot on Monday! There is a whole bunch more video coming.
We are regrouping with the shuttle - SCOA will not be involved with the shuttle this weekend. As a result, the event FREE. Chris Aragon has volunteered his vehicle to help bring people and bikes to the top. We are looking for other people to volunteer their vehicles to help. Also, since people are volunteering their gear please consider gas and beer money to help them out. Everyone that signed up earlier has been refunded.
To be clear - we will have a shuttle. You should expect to get 4-5 runs in per day. With that said - we will need your help to handle additional riders. Everything else will be the same and I am super excited about the weekend.
**************************************
We will arrive Friday to set up camp in the McGill Campground. If there is time we will do some shuttles and light riding Friday afternoon and evening. Friday night we will camp out.
Saturday morning starting @ 8AM the shuttle will start and will run until everyone gets their fill (we need at least 3 people/load to keep running). Since we have a campsite we will be grilling lunch and dinner. Bring your own food.
Sunday - repeat of Saturday. We will hang on to the campsite all day. Fill free to use the camp site as "Base Camp".
Time Required:
This event is designed to be an all weekend event. Arrive after work on Friday, leave on Sunday. However, you may come and go as you like.
Difficulty:
Beginner to Expert there is something for everyone. Chris Aragon will focus on the advanced riders but we will have someone to lead the beginners on a few runs as well. When RSVPing here please answer the questions at the end. If you would like a chance to ride with Chris please go here to RSVP.
Gear Requirements:
You will need to provide your own bike, helmet, gloves, appropriate shoes and eye wear. We also recommend mountain biking shorts, sunscreen, water, spare tubes, hydration pack and the knowledge to repair your bike should it need repairs on the trail.
Cost:
Nada - zip. Just get yourself there.
Camping is $12/campsite payable to the company that runs the camping site. Riding with Chris Aragon is free too but you need to RSVP Here . If you do not want to camp the event is free. The McGill trail is an incredible single-track. Many riders like to climb as well as descend.
Got a helmet cam?
Bring it! Saturday night we will compare and edit video while eating and drinking beers
IMPORTANT:
Mountain biking is an inherently dangerous sport, especially for those who tend to <a href="http://www.nrmbc.org/...take risks</a>.
